Position Summary

The Adult Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and instructing group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes
  • Asks and answers questions from program participants to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being.
  • Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to participants.
  • Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture.
  • Monetary transactions, use of a cash register and completion of proper paperwork

All Lake County Employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker when a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of County Commissioners. To be prepared for this role, all employees and emergency service function (ESF) leads will attend emergency management trainings and exercises as requested by the Director of Emergency Management. With advanced notification from OEM, employees will make reasonable efforts to attend training events in coordination with other employees and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED. If this certificate is not held training is available
  • Certified in Metabolic High Intensity Training
  • Fitness/or exercises related degree is a preferred
  • 1 year experience in some form of fitness instruction required.
  • Must pass a state and national background check

Physical Activity & Work Environment

  • Must be able to conduct activities including running, standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Lift and carry burdens weighing up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Work in a high-altitude environment.
